Apple kicked off its annual Worldwide Developer Conference today with a keynote presentation. Here are a few of the bigger announcements the company had to share:

iOS 6

The latest major update to Apple’s mobile operating system will be released to the public in September (maybe along with a new iPhone? – nothing to announce about that yet). The update includes big upgrades to Siri, who can now open apps and bring up sports scores. FaceBook will now be integrated into the operating system, much like Twitter is today. And they officially unveiled their much-speculated Maps program that appears to be replacing Google Maps.

Mashable has a nice wrietup on all of the new iOS 6 features here.

MacBook Pro with Retina Display

OK, get ready for something pretty amazing to look at. And get ready to pay for it. The company unveiled upgrades to their MacBook Pro line, but most eye-popping was the top end model. It sports the same Retina Display of the new iPad. We’re talking a 2800 x 1800 pixel resolution on your 15″ screen. It’s as thin as your finger, yet boasts up to 768 GB SSD drive and two thunderbolt ports. The laptop starts at $2,200, but if you want the full boat, get ready to fork over $3,750.

Engadget has all of the details on the new MacBook Pro.

Here is the Apple video promoting the new computer…

Another interesting note, it looks like Apple is discontinuing the 17″ MacBook Pro.
