Google-Mies

We drive past them every day, and they always catch our eye.

Having our headquarters in Chicago, we see some of the world’s best architecture on a daily basis. Among the local legends is Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, who moved to the United States from Germany in 1937. In 1938, he became the head of the architecture department at the Armour Institute of Technology, which was later renamed the Illinois Institute of Technology.

The Christian Science Monitor has more on the life of Mies van der Rohe. Today, on what would have been his 126th birthday, he is the focus of the Google Doodle. You can of course see that on Google.com.
