11:00am, August 21, 2017. Just a mere 2 hours away from the total solar eclipse and the SolidLine crew had yet to secure any eclipse glasses. The office was in a panic. The SolidLine rooftop viewing area in downtown Chicago was set, and the clouds were clearing, but no eclipse glasses. How could we have possibly have been so unprepared? 12:00 noon. Enter Chicago’s Adler Planetarium. Like angels from above these brave volunteers came with tens of thousands of pairs of shiny new eclipse glasses, handing them out to the SolidLine crew and the rest of the unprepared solar eclipse fans.

“Seeing the truck full of eclipse glasses descend on Daley Plaza at high noon just a block from SolidLIne HQ was almost as glorious as the total eclipse itself!” states SolidLine Editor John Courchane.

Now we have a plethora of eclipse glasses lying around. But do not worry, we can all donate our glasses to Astronomers Without Borders so kids in South America and Asia can enjoy their next eclipse in 2019.
