Cache-A-NAB

If you’ve ever spent the better part of a day backing up projects onto Blu-Ray discs, you understand why media storage is a pretty big issue these days. As the overall quality of cameras and other devices continues to rise, files are getting bigger and bigger. Sure, we just moved into a new office, but finding a media storage solution is always high on our priority list. That’s why we were excited to meet with the people at Cache-A Archive Appliances. They won Creative Cow’s Blue Ribbon Award for “Best Archiving System” at NAB 2011. Their archive appliances “can easily archive source masters for production or entire projects for post-production using the secure, portable, interchangeable, industry standard LTFS or tar format on LTO-5 media.” At NAB 2012, they unveiled their latest product – the High-Performance Power Cache. Here’s more about it…..

“Power-Cache combines Cache-A’s noted appliance functionality with a blindingly fast disk array and ultra-fast networking for more expandability and accelerated archive and retrieval transfers.  Power-Cache features a separate SSD drive for its operating system to ensure peak archiving and restore performance and reliability at all times.  It also offers greater flexibility for staging content, making duplicate tape copies and working with Cache-A Library and Expansion units.”

Just like yesterday’s post about the Matthews DC-Slider, we’ll be sure to write an update when we actually get into the workflow with our new archiving system.

Our time at NAB 2012 is coming to a close…..but we’ll have some final thoughts when we return, along with links to some other big debuts in Las Vegas!
