Yesterday, the winners of the 2013 Webby Awards were announced.
You know about the traditional award season and the pursuit of the elusive E.G.O.T. but have you ever heard of The Webby Awards? Since 1996, The Webby Awards have been the leading international award honoring excellent on the internet. It’s hard to believe that anyone was making astounding web achievements during the internet’s infancy compared to today, but I guess we have those first achievements to thank for every advancement in design and technology we’ve made since.

This year the Webby Awards expanded their mission by honoring excellence in Websites, Interactive Advertising & Media, Online Film & Video, Mobile & App and announced an entire new suite of categories for work in the Social Web. And, with two chances to win in each category, The Webby award and The Webby People’s Voice Award, we anticipate the desirable E.G.O.T. gaining a new wanted consonant.

The Webbys are presented and judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), a judging panel of 1,000+ web experts, business figures, celebrities, luminaries, creatives, and other internet professionals. The Webby People’s Voice Awards are judged and voted on by the millions-strong web community.
The public can watch The Webbys, hosted by Patton Oswalt, on demand on May 22nd, or check out 2013 Winners of the Internet on the online Webby Awards Gallery.
